Ever since I was whisked away to a galaxy far far away as a nine year old to watch an empire mercilessly strike back, I knew that I wanted to become a Jedi Knight filmmaker. And when I found out that there are actual people, who’s job it is to make up those thrilling stories that are the blueprint for each movie and TV show, I immediately started to write.
After „studying“ tons of movies and TV shows in cinemas and at home, I continued for real at the University of Bochum where I also lectured on the films of Steven Spielberg and made numerous short films with my fellow students. In the meantime I also worked as an entertainment journalist and co-wrote numerous books about the classic TV show „The X-Files“.
In 1996 I was lucky to join the writing staff of Germany’s hit daytime drama „Unter Uns“ where I got a crash course in TV writing and also met my lifelong writing partners.
Together we left the daytime world in 1999 and as writing team mondo23 turned our attention to prime time television. Since then, we have worked for all the major TV networks in Germany, and have written more than 130 episodes of some of the country’s highest-rated TV dramas.
In addition we have written fifteen network TV-movies (some shot on location in Moscow, London, Istanbul, the Dominican Republic and Mexico) and have successfully developed several original shows into production.
These days I live with my wife and son in Dortmund, Germany watching way too many movies and TV shows while meditating way too little.
